Congratulations Jenny Macklin - Deputy Leader of the Opposition

EMILY's List Co-Convenors, Joan Kirner and Cheryl Davenport, today congratulated Jenny Macklin on her appointment as Deputy Leader of the Federal Opposition.
They also congratulated Julia Gillard and Nicola Roxon on their appointment as Shadow Cabinet Ministers, along with existing members Hon. Carmen Lawrence and Senator Kate Lundy.
Ms Kirner said “It's a potential new era in Australian politics with Jenny Macklin being the first woman ever from the Coalition or the Labor Party to be elected to a leadership position.
“Jenny's appointment is an historic step for the nation and for women.”
