Kristy McBain for Eden-Monaro
" I believe that everyone deserves an equal chance to succeed in life - regardless of their gender or where they came from. I'll stand up against gender discrimination in my community and in the parliament."
Kristy McBain is Labor's candidate for Eden-Monaro. Kristy lives in Tura Beach with her husband Brad, their three children and their beloved border collie.
The last six months have been a tough time for Eden-Monaro. The experience of the devastating bushfires and now the coronavirus pandemic has made Kristy more determined than ever to stand up for her community.
Kristy's family moved to the Bega Valley in the 90s and ran a small sporting store in Merimbula for over a decade. She grew up on the Far South Coast and attended Eden Marine High School, where she met her husband. They still count their high school mates as some of their best friends. Kristy's love for this part of the world is the reason she moved back after studying at the University of Canberra.
Kristy and Brad run a small plumbing business. Local businesses are under pressure and Kristy knows how important it is to have real job opportunities for the community. As the first person in her family to go to university, Kristy also wants to make sure all children get the education they deserve.
Eden-Monaro needs a strong local voice that will make sure they're not forgotten. Kristy will be that voice.
Kristy is being mentored by Sharon Claydon, Federal MP for Newcastle in NSW and National Co-Convenor of ELA.
EARLY MONEY FUND FOR ENDORSED CANDIDATES
EMILY is an acronym which stands for Early Money Is Like Yeast – it makes the dough rise. Donating to progressive Labor women candidates early in their election campaigns provides them with the foundation on which to build their success. The Early Money Fund is distributed by National Committee to endorsed candidates.
