Kara Cook for Bonner
Kara Cook is a proud Queenslander, raised in Yeppoon in Central Queensland, and now calls Brisbane’s Eastern suburbs home, where she lives with her husband, Josh and three children.
Kara’s life has been shaped by a passion for service – whether as a lawyer advocating for those experiencing domestic violence, as a small business owner, or as a Brisbane City Councillor where she worked to ensure her community had a strong voice on the issues that mattered to them.
Kara is standing as part of Anthony Albanese’s team because she wants to help build a better future where every child, every family, and every business in Bonner has the chance to thrive.
She has seen firsthand the challenges families in Bonner face – the rising cost of living, access to quality healthcare and education or the need for affordable housing. Kara has put her hand up this election because only Labor will deliver more cost of living relief, strengthen Medicare and build more homes.
Kara is a fighter and will fight for what this community deserves – a strong voice in Canberra who puts you first.
Madonna Jarrett for Brisbane
Madonna Jarrett will be a strong local voice for the people of Brisbane, being born and raised in Paddington. She now lives in Ashgrove with her husband John and twin boys. She qualified as a Diagnostic Radiographer and earned her Business degree at QUT. Madonna has had an extensive career spanning the health sector, public policy and external relations across Australia, Europe, Asia and the US.
Although she was one of eight siblings living in a small workers cottage in Paddington, her childhood house also provided a home for a number of foster kids who had nowhere to go. She now sees young people like her sons facing the very real issues of cost of living and affordable housing. Madonna also volunteers for an organisation who works to support those who are at risk of experiencing homelessness. She sees firsthand the importance of addressing these issues and providing a safe and secure home.
Madonna cares about the future of her children and theirs, and believes that climate change is something we will only get one chance to fix; that we need an approach that is considered, ambitious, realistic and effective.
That’s why she’s proud to be running as part of Anthony Albanese’s team that made a record investment in housing and renewable energy.
As your representative, Madonna has the skills and experience to deliver real progressive change to help the people of Brisbane.
Emily Mawson for Capricornia
Emily Mawson is QLD Labor's Candidate for Capricornia.
Growing up in Moranbah, the daughter of a coal miner, Emily Mawson knows that regional communities need representatives who will fight for them.
Emily is an asbestos, dust and occupational diseases lawyer representing workers. She has always been a fierce advocate for more regional health services, for safe working conditions and for backing regional communities.
Emily knows that the Albanese Labor Government backs regional Queensland with ambitious plans like a Future Made in Australia as well as essential cost of living relief.
Ali France for Dickson
Ali France is a Moreton Bay local, living in Arana Hills with her son. She has worked as a journalist and communications manager and is a world champion para-athlete.
As a working single mum, Ali understands how hard it can be to juggle the pressures of rising bills. She knows that the Albanese Government’s tax cut for every Australian, electricity rebates, cheaper medicines, fee-free TAFE and expanded paid parental leave will help families across Dickson.
Ali and her family have experienced firsthand the importance of Medicare, the NDIS and disability support. After losing her leg in an accident in 2011, Ali has navigated the NDIS and has been a strong advocate for people with a disability. Ali also tragically lost her son Henry to leukaemia in early 2024, and she spent 18 months by his side. Like many Australians, Ali and her family have relied heavily on Medicare and know investment in healthcare, cheaper medicines and ensuring access to GPs and specialists is incredibly important.
Ali will be an important voice for the Moreton Bay region in the Albanese Labor Government, with a real focus on the day to day needs of working people.

Renee has deep connections to our local community and is actively involved with community groups, sporting clubs and serves on the board of a local school.
She is committed to ensuring that everyone in the community has a home and that we address the climate crisis.
That’s why she’s proud to be running as part of Anthony Albanese’s team that made a record investment in housing and is taking urgent action on climate change by delivering net zero.

Naomi McQueen for Fairfax
Naomi McQueen will be fighting hard for the community.
She is a local and has worked as an air traffic controller for the last 21 years.
Naomi and her husband live in Twin Waters, where they are raising their teenage children. She has watched the Coast and the Hinterland grow and is passionate about ensuring the region has the infrastructure and services needed now and in the future.
As a fierce advocate for the local community, she has been disappointed by years of inaction from the LNP MPs on the Sunshine Coast. She will fight for good jobs, great healthcare, affordable housing, and reliable—rather than dangerous and risky—energy sources.
Labor’s number one priority is delivering cost-of-living relief with bigger tax cuts for every taxpayer, 20% off student debt, energy bill relief, cheaper childcare, strengthening Medicare, and more affordable medicines. But Naomi knows there is still more to do.
Only Labor is making genuine commitments with infrastructure upgrades to the Bruce Highway and delivering the Sunshine Coast Rail.
Naomi McQueen is a proud advocate for the community and is fighting for a better future for Fairfax.

Rebecca also understands the pressures on household budgets, that’s why she’s proud to be running as part of Anthony Albanese’s team that has delivered a tax cut to every taxpayer, a power rebate to every household and delivered a pay raise for low paid workers. As well as making a record investment in housing to ease rents and make homes more affordable.
